Robin Buddecke
Robin Buddecke has been competing and training jumpers and hunters for over forty years. A lifelong horseman, Robin began his competition career at a very young age, and was competing as a catch rider throughout his junior career. Originally from New Mexico, Robin began his professional career by working as an assistant trainer to Mike McCormick. After working for Mike, Robin continued to work and show on the West Coast, competing and training horses for Riley Wilson, his long time friend and mentor, as well as working as for Diane Grod. Competing throughout the West Coast and Southwest, Robin showed and trained at the major A shows on both hunters and jumpers, while coaching amateurs and junior riders. Later, while running his own training stables out of Snowpark in San Diego, Robin began working with Arsia Ardalan at Caspian Stables, managing the breaking and training of all of the young horses bred both there and at The Oaks. Having started many young horses at the beginning of their career, as well as showing his homebred Ocean Spray to Young Jumper of The Year for both PCHA and AHSA , Robins’ affinity for working with with young and sensitive horses has been a major focus of his career. As a trainer and coach of riders, Robin has coached many young professionals, specializing in problem solving with challenging horses. Robin also has taught junior riders and amateurs, with much success in both the jumper and hunter rings. Most recently he started and competed Carreras 19 in the hunter divisions, as well as catch riding for various professionals.
